How many of us have gone to Trivia Night, absolutely killed it, and then thought “there’s got to be a better application for all my incredible, random knowledge than simply winning trivia nights?” Lots, I’m sure.
I’ve written a lot about how “solving mysteries” is the answer that pop culture gives to the question, “what job can you do when you have an incredible humanities education and know a lot of random things about history and literature and science and languages?”
Well, another bit of evidence to this point is the new pilot Trivia Night Mysteries, written by former Family Guy showrunner Steve Callaghan and produced by Nicely Entertainment. Deadline reports, “Shooting has wrapped on the 90-minute pilot, which is the first of a planned mystery movie series that is also being packaged as a two-part TV show titled Trivia Night Mysteries: A Question of Murder.” Evidently, pre-production on these further installments has already begun!
This sounds complicated but intriguing. What’s the story? It’s about a clever fact-checker/trivia champion named Sara Keane who winds up solving a mystery when a trivia rival is found dead. She even has a sleuthing partner, a charming lawyer named Reid Taggart. The actors Morgan Bradley and Alex Trumble star, respectively, in these roles.
So that’s something to look forward to, yes?
