Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed
(Apple TV)
Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Eastern Promises) says she’s just “a regular person,” a mom in the midst of a divorce—until she sees her cutel camboy get attacked. When the police blow her off, she decides to take action. Expect a propulsive twisty plot, a fine performance from Maslany, and plenty of ordinary-people-caught-in-extraordinary-circumstances humor.
World Wide Mafia ’Ndrangheta
(Hulu, Disney +)
If you’ve been wondering what it takes to bring down a powerful organized crime syndicate, this docuseries might be right up your (dark) alley. Over the course of four episodes, it follows the dedicated and absurdly courageous prosecutor Nicola Gratteri as he attempts to wage a legal battle against the ‘Ndrangheta, which originated in Calabria in the 19th century and is now one of the largest organized crime syndicates in the world.

Movie Night

Project Hail Mary (2026) (Prime Video) Fresh from theaters and based on Andy Weir’s The Martian novel of the same name, this absorbing film follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), an elementary school teacher who wakes up in a spaceship with no memory of why he’s there. Turns out that all of humanity has banded together in a last ditch, “Hail Mary” project to save the earth—and Grace is the one who’s supposed to do it. What happens next is full of surprises, and the movie doesn’t make the obvious choices, which is such a welcome change. With Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest) one of my favorite actresses these days, as the scientist spearheading the mission from earth.
Minority Report (2002) (Hulu) It’s never a bad time to watch or re-watch Steven Spielberg’s entertaining and—particularly in the age of AI—chilling film about a future Washington DC “precrime” police department that uses psychic “precogs” to predict and catch potential murders before a homicide is committed. With a layered plot and an all-star cast, including Tom Cruise as a precrime cop who’s wrongly accused of a future murder, Samantha Morton as one of the precogs, and Max von Sydow as the head of the precrime program.
And 5 more movies new to the streaming libraries:
Retribution (2023) (Prime Video)
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (2025) (HBO Max)
How To Make A Killing (2026) (Apple TV)
Mob Town (2019) (Pluto)
Face/Off (1997) (Tubi)
