Adrian McKinty's The Chain Gets an HBO Series Order
Damon Lindelof is set to be the showrunner of this twisty thriller!
Great news for crime fiction fans! Adrian McKinty, Irish crime writer and friend of CrimeReads, is about to have his novel The Chain turned into an HBO series!
HBO has placed a series order, with Damon Lindelof set as the showrunner. Lindelof of Lost and The Leftovers, is extremely enthusiastic about McKinty’s novel, telling The Hollywood Reporter “From the moment I heard the wild and original premise of Adrian’s book, I was shocked, surprised and angry I hadn’t thought of it myself.”
The Chain, which came out in 2019 and was a New York Times bestseller, is a thriller with horror notes, about a kidnapping gambit where parents are forced to kidnap a child in order to release their own kidnapped child, forming a gigantic chain of kidnappings. Stephen King called the novel “nightmarish,” which is, really, all the endorsement anyone needs.
