Lord of the Flies
(Netflix)
If you loved Adolescence, then you might want to check out creator Jack Thorne’s latest venture. (And if you haven’t seen Adolescence, I highly recommend watching. It’s an immersive psychological crime drama about a young teen boy who’s arrested for the murder of his classmate). Lord of the Flies, based on William Golding’s classic novel by the same name, tells the story of a group of boys stranded on an island without adults… and the violence and chaos that follow. It’s been adapted for the screen several times, but Thorne said he wanted to keep his version as close as possible to the original. (Limited series: 4 episodes.)
Boston Blue
(CBS/Paramount +)
A police procedural and “universe expansion of Blue Bloods,” set in—where else?—Boston, with Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, a former NYPD detective paired with Sonequa Martin-Green’s Lena Silver. The Silver family are police royalty in Boston, which adds an extra layer of drama to the series. Expect plenty of crime solving plus timely issues like facial recognition software that unfairly targets people of color.

Exit 8 (2025): Japanese psychological horror about a man trapped in an endless subway loop. It’s based on a video game The Exit 8 by Kotake Create. Be prepared for anxiety-inducing tension, immersive visuals, and an efficient 95-minute run time—so if you’re on the fence, it’s not too much of a commitment.
“No. I am your father!” (That’s what Darth actually said.) Pull out your lightsabers, don your robes, and practice your best Vader voice, the three original Star Wars movies—A New Hope (1977), Empire Strikes Back (1980), and the Return of the Jedi (1983)—plus Rogue One (2016) are now streaming on Hulu.
And 3 more movies new to the streaming libraries:
Dead of Winter (2025) (HBO Max)
Tuesday (2023) (Pluto)
Heat (1995) (Tubi)
