A mystery lover’s guide to what’s new to streaming this weekend.

New and Returning Mystery and Thriller Series

Someone Has to Know
(Netflix)
The premise of Someone Has to Know (2026), a Chilean drama based on real events sounds promising: a teenage boy goes missing from a crowded nightclub and his mother and a police detective lead an investigation in which people who might useful information go silent. I love watching true-crime or true-crime inspired series from different cultures. You get to see commonalties in the criminal justice system but also how policing, what is and isn’t considered acceptable behavior, and ideas of justice differ.
Young Sherlock
(Prime Video)
Since this is a “From Guy Ritchie” Young Sherlock, we can expect plenty of capers, slow-motion and speeded-up action, and quick-step banter. There are also gorgeous period costumes—the men’s suits are particularly well cut, sumptuous shots of Oxford and ye olde England, and (in addition to a Young Moriarty) the mysterious and beautiful Princess Gulun Shou’an, who is of course, also a martial artist. I say, go ahead, give it a try.

Movie Night

May the odds forever be in your favor! Everyone’s favorite Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) never fails to light up the screen in The Hunger Games movies, which also include my two favorite characters: Elizabeth Banks as the seemingly clueless District 12 escort and advisor, Effie Trinket; and Woody Harrelson as the washed-up former Hunger Games victor, Haymitch Abernathy. The Hunger Games (2012), The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part I (2014), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 (2015), and the prequel to the series: The Hunger Games: The Battle of Songbirds & Snakes (2023) are back on Hulu. Settle in and make it a movie marathon!
And 4 more movies new to the streaming libraries:
The Truth And Tragedy of Moriah Wilson (2026) (Netflix)
Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning (2025) (Prime Video)
Runaway Jury (2003) (Tubi)
House of Gucci (2021) (Pluto)
